The Iridium constellation of 66 low earth, cross-linked satellites operates as a fully meshed network to provide global satellite voice and data solutions with complete coverage of the Earth (including oceans, airways and Polar Regions). Using your computer and an Iridium satellite phone, you can connect to the Internet or a corporate network from virtually anywhere in the world, allowing you to transfer files, send and receive e-mail, browse the web.

Direct Internet Data Service provides connectivity from a PC, through your Iridium phone, directly through the Internet through dedicated servers at the Iridium gateway. This service utilizes transparent compression, resulting in effective data rates higher
than the 2.4Kbps service that Iridium's data service operates at.

Dialup Data Service provides connectivity from a PC, through your Iridium phone to another computer, a corporate network or an ISP Provider at data rate up to 2.4Kbps.

Short Message Service (SMS) - as an Iridium subscriber, your phone performs as a voice communication and messaging device. The Iridium Satellite phone can send and receive up to 160 alphanumeric characters, in a single message. 

Iridium fax and Enhanced Messaging Service offers an extensive suite of options allowing subscribers to transmit and receive information in different format over the Iridium constellation of 66 satellites.
 

 
 

 

 

Post-Paid Iridium Service Plan

Iridium post-Paid service plans are based on term (Monthly) plus included airtime. 
Airtime cost is based on Units (Actual cost depends on currency exchange rates).  The cost of airtime for a call is base on the plan purchased.

Iridium has five Post-Paid plans:

There is a monthly charge for Post-Paid service and a one-time activation fee for the basic service.  The customer receives a monthly bill for basic service and calling activity.  A detailed call record is provided.  Call usage is charged at Iridium’s current rates.

Voice mail service can be added to any Post-Paid plan for a monthly fee.  There is no activation fee for voice mail service. 

Short Message Service (SMS) can be added to any Post-Paid plan for a monthly fee. 

There is no service term on post-paid, however a 30-day cancel notice is required in writing.

Pre-Paid Iridium Service Plan

There is no monthly charge for service and no activation fee for the basic service.

There are two pre-paid SIM cards that can be purchased and recharged:

  • A one-month SIM card that expires in 30 days.  The expiration date is extended
    30 days each time the card is recharged.  If the account value is zero, the card can receive incoming calls and outgoing calls can only be placed to the service provider. Expired SIM cards cannot be renewed.

  • A one-year SIM card that expires after one year. The expiration date is extended one year each time the card is recharged. If the account value drops to zero the Prepaid card expires at its one-year anniversary. If the account value is zero, the card can receive incoming calls and outgoing calls can only be placed to the service provider. Expired cards cannot be renewed. Minutes roll over if renewal is made before the card expires.

SMS is not offered for Pre-Paid customers.

No Call Records are provided for Pre-Paid SIM cards.
